The French school "Valorme" was created in 2002 by Corine and Alain Rouleau, both teachers of French as a Foreign Language. Since 2007, the school has been established in Foix.
Corine is the instructor.
After studying Chinese at universities in Paris and Taiwan, she obtained a Master 2 degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language at the University of Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle.
In 1990, Corine and Alain left France and spent the next 7 years working abroad as professors and course managers through the network of Alliances Françaises in Taiwan, Lisbon (Portugal) and Sapporo (Japan).
Alain participated actively in the creation of "Valorme" while pursuing his teaching career in the Ministry of Education. In 2013, he realized his dream by opening his own antique shop. (www.antiquites-brocante.net).
Corine and Alain have fallen in love with Foix and its region, especially the Pyrenees where they both enjoy hiking. Corine also likes skiing while Alain is very keen on mycology.
The concept of "Valorme"
It was while we were working abroad that the idea of this school was born. Many of our students were looking for a place to learn French in a family setting, different from what was offered by the majority of language centers. We imagined creating a small school where we would like to be students ourselves.
We wanted to combine language immersion with the discovery of a beautiful area of France.
The result for active study holidays is "Valorme":
- Courses are taught by a qualified and experienced teacher in a relaxed atmosphere.
- Lunches together and outings which may include mountain hikes, walks and visits to places of interest, allow students to continue speaking French throughout the day.
- Charming, independent accommodation in a safe environment (Corine and Alain live in the same building) give students the experience of living like the French in the historic center of Foix.
